Roman, 4th century AD

Large, elegant, pear-shaped jug in green-yellow glass. The shape is similar to Ising 120. Blown glass. This causes grooves in the object’s surface. The bent handle sits just above the midpoint of the jug and is folded back under the edge. This forms the thumb rest. Around the neck of the jug is a glass ring. The jug’s foundation has been shaped by pinching the glass to form a ring. Inscription underneath. Inclusions, streaks and bubbles. Weight: 48.6g.

The shape, ring support and corrugated body imitate expensive silver jugs. Typical, widespread jug shape of the 4th century AD.
