The Galerie Kunst der Antike was founded in 2007 with the aim of offering artworks from the European Bronze Age to the end of the Western Roman Empire. Since then, the gallery was able to attain international recognition in the field. Our customers include international private collectors as well as archeological collections of major museums.
A handpicked selection of museum quality, reliability and integrity are our top priority. Another field of activity of the gallery is to scientifically process significant objects and make the findings available to the public – this is our contribution to the scientific processing of these objects for future generations.
Boris Müller - founder and owner of the Galerie Kunst der Antike – discovered his passion for archeology and ancient artworks at an early age. After being able gather first experiences of the art market by working in his father’s company, a gallery specializing on paintings, he decided to turn his passion into his profession and found the Galerie Kunst der Antike. Being able to work with ancient artworks and his constant willingness to explore new things are what drive the young Upper Austrian to succeed.
Each object is one of a kind.
“Its historico-cultural significance and its high aesthetic values are what most fascinate me about ancient art. Each object is unique and tells a story, gives us insight in how ancient cultures lived thousands of years ago“ says Boris Müller.
His professional portfolio is completed by his work as licenced and court certified expert for archeology. In this field, Müller is the only official expert in Austria. His expertise in the field of archeology and in the ancient art market is appreciated and requested not only in Austria but also beyond the national borders.
The selection of artworks our gallery offers ranges from the prehistoric and Etruscan period to ancient Egypt and Greece, the Roman Empire and the ancient cultures of the Near East. A particular focus lies on objects from the Bronze Age and the Hallstatt culture: this period is of especially high importance for us since some of the most significant artworks of the Hallstatt culture that can currently be found on the art market went through the hands of our gallery, proving the highly developed craftwork of this thousands of years old culture.
For all of our objects we ensure both complete evidence of provenance and a guarantee of authenticity, unlimited in time.
With each object you will receive an official export licence. Furthermore, the majority of our artworks include a repurchase guarantee with an increase in value.
What amazes us and many other collectors around the globe most about antique art is not only its exceptional beauty but also its historico-cultural value. Collecting art means being fascinated by both the unique history and by the age of the objects.
Investing into eternity
Compared to the contemporary market, the ancient art market experiences only small price fluctuations and therefore registers higher value retention.
According to Boris Müller, the advantage of the antique market is its niche position on the international art market. Hence, buying an art object can be seen as an interesting investment opportunity with mostly consistent enhancement in value.
Deciding on the purchase of a piece of ancient art is much more than a safe investment though: one takes on the responsibility to preserve a unique object of art history for future generations.
